The European Patent Attorneys are registered with the European Patent Office and are members of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the EPO (epi) and the Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Intellectuelle (FICPI). They are subject in particular to the epi Code of Conduct and the applicable professional rules.

The European Trademark Attorneys and European Design Attorneys are registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and are subject to the applicable provisions of EU law.

The patent attorneys admitted under German law are registered with the German Patent and Trade Mark Office and are members of the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys. They are subject in particular to the German Patent Attorney Code and the Rules of Professional Conduct for Patent Attorneys.

Professional indemnity insurance

Schwarz + Kollegen Patentanwälte maintains professional indemnity insurance with R+V Allgemeine Versicherung AG, Taunusstraße 1, 65193 Wiesbaden, Germany.

Pursuant to section 2(1) no. 11 DL-InfoV, the territorial scope of the insurance covers activities at least within the Member States of the European Union and, according to the information currently published on the website, meets at least the requirements of section 45 of the German Patent Attorney Code (PatAnwO) and section 51 of the Federal Lawyers’ Act (BRAO). Under a framework agreement with the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys, the patent attorneys and lawyers working at the firm have worldwide cover without territorial restrictions.

Conflicts of interest

Professional rules prohibit our lawyers and patent attorneys from representing conflicting interests. We therefore conduct a conflict check before accepting an engagement.
