Dr. Claudia Schwarz

Dr Claudia Schwarz is a founding partner of the firm. Before training as a patent attorney, she studied computer science with theoretical medicine as a minor at the Technical University of Munich and worked on several research projects in the field of artificial intelligence.

She has worked in intellectual property law since 1995. As a computer scientist, she focuses on software patents and computer-implemented inventions. She has a particular interest in the international comparison of patent protection for software.

In prosecution, opinion work and contentious proceedings, Dr Schwarz handles all areas of computer technology as well as medicine and medical technology, computational engineering, embedded systems, cryptology, financial informatics, bioinformatics and internet technology. She also advises on employee invention law.

Dr Schwarz has held and continues to hold university teaching appointments and regularly gives seminars and specialist lectures. Her practical experience has informed German- and English-language textbooks on computer-implemented inventions. Clients value her pragmatic and cost-conscious approach.
